Guard yourself as the weather cools

The summer heat is dying down a bit, at least in some parts of the country. As you plan for the cooler weather and buy clothes that are more suited for colder weather, just be sure to think about what you’ll need when it is bitter cold in just a few months from now.

It is often easy to think about the warmth and comfort of today, and forget how much polar protection you’ll need. Don’t do that to yourself. Really shop around, and ask for help and advice from the employees who work in the stores where you purchase your polar gear.

As far as travel plans, map out your winter vacation and be sure you know what type of weather is typically expected in the region you’ll be visiting. Many of our readers like to go skiing with their families during the winter, and it is not just as easy as hopping on a plane with a suitcase. Frostbite and hypothermia are real threats, especially if you are traveling with little ones.

So again, just a quick reminder to think through your future plans, get your gear that is needed, and then have fun while you’re fully protected!

Outdoor thermal gear is our specialty

Outdoor adventures are great, but many people avoid going camping or hiking when the weather is not warm. It is true that it is easier in the summer, especially up in the mountains, as you have plenty of sun, and you don’t need to wear too thick clothes. Still, with the new generation of insulating materials, you can enjoy experiences in the great outdoors regardless of the season. But, if you choose to do so, you will need to have the proper equipment. In case you like to explore the great heights of the mountains, then you should know that temperatures drop dramatically when autumn gets installed here, especially during the night.

So how can you enjoy hiking and camping at lower temperatures? By using an outdoor thermal gear. PolarGuard, for instance, is a much-appreciated brand of insulating equipment, for the people that wish to have no boundaries in their exploration. Even if the nights can be freezing, especially in the tent, Polarguard has sleeping bags that will make sleeping by nice and cozy, even if the outside temperatures are reaching towards 0 degrees. Without this type of thermal equipment, it would not be possible for anyone to resist and the entire night, no matter how resistant, in freezing conditions. Still, check the temperatures for which the product was created, as mentioned in the package or instructions guide, as there are several types of thickness when it comes to insulating gear. Each thickness corresponds to a particular temperature range, so going in an environment that is below the capacity of the gear will not make it efficient. If you want to see ultimate efficiency, you should watch the way this tree removal team in Texas works on projects that need results fast.

Of course, beside just a sleeping bag, you should also have outdoor thermal pants, jacket, a proper insulating tent, and an insulating material to put on the tent’s bottom. If you are not adequately protected against cold weather, you may risk developing serious health problems, and this is not the point of spending time in the outdoors. You may think that it is complicated to go out on a bad weather, but it is not, as long as you are properly equipped. Autumn and winter can be fantastic in the outdoors, but there is the need for supplementary precaution, like proper insulation. And not only insulation regarding temperatures, but also insulation concerning moisture and water, as it may rain, and having wet clothes is not an option when you are so far away from civilization.

Thus, is unlimited outdoor explorations sounding good to you? Then check out the product range from PolarGuard and choose the ones that are fittest for you. For that, you should know a little about the weather conditions of the area you wish to explore. That will give you an idea of what type of thermal gear you need. Never go out there unprepared, because you won’t only risk your well-being, but even your life. Nature and the mountains, in particular, are unpredictable. Even during the summer you can experience low temperatures, especially at high altitudes. So in the winter, things will only get worse.

Changing industry landscape for Polar Guard

Polar Guard has weathered a number of storms, both in business and in Mother Nature. Just having the chance to reflect a bit on the past couple quarters has been a really healthy thing for us as we plan to finish the year out strong. A few nuggets that came to mind during the reflection are as follows.

There are so many factors that contribute in life of an organization; various departments, employees and market forces construct the back bone of business, especially for Polar Guard. To drive business in a powerful manner it is important to control all factors efficiently so that they can exert force on profit making. To sell products from the business to the end customer directly is an easy task because just an attractive marketing strategy will work for you but when we talk about business to business products and services the first most importance is given to relations. For example, if you want to serve customers who have a need to remove carpet stains in their homes, you might go ahead and setup a company and market to those end users directly, in other words you would be in the business-to-consumer (B2C) space. But if you wanted to sell products or service to that carpet cleaner, for example, if you had some type of marketing company that would help the carpet cleaner acquire new customers, you would be playing in the business-to-business (B2B) space which requires a completely different mindset, skill level, and approach. If you are able to build healthy relation with suppliers as well as clients from other businesses; your profits will naturally follow the path of growth. Just remember, know who you serve and who serves you, but also look beyond your scope and understand who your customer’s customer is as well as who your supplier’s supplier is — it will serve you well.

When you are searching for suppliers for your business it is important to ensure quality services because it will ultimately affect performance of your business. You must make huge search for services offered by different suppliers and compare their quality as well as price; make decisions as per need of your business. There is no compromise for quality if you really want to serve in this business for years. Some factors that affect your selection of supplier for products and services are:

  • Observe how reliable their services are; on time delivery and quality of products will be serving as major factors.
  • Suppliers must be flexible in their deliveries so that in peak business hours if you ask them for big lot of products they respond in timely manner.
  • An ideal supplier follows good communication while dealing with order processing and offers best solutions to all queries.
  • If you are dealing with a supplier from long term you can also think of discounts; it will have huge impact on your cash flow.

On the other side when you act like a supplier of products and services to your client there are again huge responsibilities that must be kept under consideration to have better results with long term relationship. Clients always love to work with those suppliers that support and appreciate their business activities. To work for longer time and earn more profit you must always prefer to serve quality products as well as services. Try to build a healthy relationship with your clients and make sure that you are a good communicator; strengthfull bond is formed with though sharing. Be responsive towards all needs and requirements of clients so that you can serve them on time.

To deal with products and services in business to business management, it is important to use quality marketing strategies and effective promotional methods. Try to promote offerings of your business in such a way that it drives maximum attention from business world. Business to business selling of products and services can be improved by following techniques:

  • It is good to do lot of research on market needs and stay well prepared to serve them.
  • Develop a clear vision about deliveries of orders and try to fulfil all promises on time to nourish trust of clients.
  • Focus on strong relationship building.
  • It is good to be an industry expert so that clients will love to explore your services.
  • Keep track of supplies and also focus on competitors in market.

Ice In The Past, Sun Coming Fast

Who is ready for some sun?! If you are feeling anything like us, you are just itching to get out of those cold weather clothes and into some spring and summer gear. For most of the southern climates in the USA, we have finally emerged from what seemed to be an endless winter.

Get prepared to take a plunge into peaceful spring time weather and enjoy every moment of Mother Nature’s new season. But be forewarned, if you are planning to spend time in cold weather environments, such as surfing off the coast, or taking a trip up to some of the northern states, be sure to wear your polar gear as appropriate.

Funny story about one of our friends who lives in Texas, but often visits family up in Michigan:

  • We’ll call him “Josh” to protect the innocent, actual name to remain secret for now, unless he (or she) wants to post and admit to this one
  • So Josh took a trip up to Michigan in March back in 2007 when his brother and sister-in-law first moved up there
  • Josh lives in Houston, TX and he had been in Galveston the day before his trip — actually at the beach walking his dog and enjoying the sun and sand
  • He was so spoiled by the warmth, when he packed he decided he really wasn’t going to be outside too much when he was with family up north, so he just took a light fleece, long pants, and hit the road for the airport
  • When he arrived, his brother picked him up from the airport and they drove right to dinner
  • The only availability for a table at the restaurant they wanted to eat at was either a 45 minute wait or a table outside on the patio, which they had just opened because it was warm enough the weekend prior
  • Well, not the day Josh visited
  • He and his brother opted not to wait, and Josh sat through dinner with his arms tucked into his fleece and wrapped underneath his thighs because he just wasn’t dressed properly
  • His brother, on the other had, was fully prepared for the weather and was wearing a winter coat and light gloves (remember that scene from Dumb and Dumber with the extra gloves?…yeah, it was like a replay of that)
  • Needless to say, Josh survived, but he always packs for the potential cold when he goes up to Michigan that early in the year

For all of you dare devils who are excited about the warm weather coming, we are too — just please pack some polar gear that will guard you from the chill and possibility of frost bite when you travel climates that aren’t quite as warm as Texas.

Until next time, this is Polar Guard with another tip for all of our readers.

Have a great rest of the week!

Sunshine Ahead For Your Storage Shed

It’s already time for pitchers and catchers to report to spring training! Finally, after long months of cold weather and being trapped inside, you can soon begin to enjoy baseball, soccer, surfing, and all of your other outdoor activities that have long been banned due to freezing cold temperatures across the country. It is hard to imagine that even the recent weather in southern places such as Miami, Florida, Phoenix, Arizona, Houston, Texas, and New Orleans, Louisiana has been a bit brisk, but the sunshine is right around the bend and will be here to stay for a long time to come.

All of your stuff has been stored all winter long, just hibernating in its outdoor home. If you are a lover of the outdoors, perhaps you enjoyed skiing or snowboarding these past few weeks, but as soon as spring time hits, you can bust out all of the warm weather stuff and let the good times roll.

You know what that means for your storage shed?

You will have the lucky list of to-do’s from your loved one to re-organize the whole thing. You may roll your eyes and dread the task, but we have found that it is very important to clean out your storage space as well as you can and place the items you want in there in the right order, packed and stacked neatly from back to front.

The best way to go about this tedious task is as follows:

  1. Open up the front doors to your container, if you have indeed been using a conex box to keep your belongings safe all winter long.
  2. Make sure that the entire length of the shipping container is cleared out from top to bottom, so that you can examine everything carefully and assess how and where you will use it or re-pack it.
  3. If you are using a 10 foot container, make sure to leave ample space outside the front of the shed because you can be surprised how much you had jammed in there back when winter was around the bend and you just kept shoving items in one after the other. If you happen to have a 20 foot shipping container or a 40 foot intermodal box, note that you will need even more room, of course, on the outside of the storage unit to sort through everything.
  4. Take a solid inventory of each item that you have, and make the determination about whether or not you will need to store it back in the unit for the long-term or if you plan to use it more frequently during the warm weather. Just a simple checklist or spreadsheet with a column indicating “Yes” or “No” to the question “Warm Weather Use?” should suffice. If you have an advanced inventory control software of some sort, then feel free to use it but know that it’s not critical and you don’t need to go buy one just for this.
  5. Develop a stacking and packing strategy, and draw out how you think it will look before you go and move things. You don’t want to waste your time on the heavy lifting if you don’t know exactly where everything is going to be placed. That would be too frustrating to deal with, and you would hate to do double the work.
  6. Once you are all set with your plan, go ahead and start placing your items back in the box. If you don’t have a shipping container at all to use for a storage shed, you can skip steps 1 through 5 and begin here by stacking and storing your stuff in a new or used conex box. Depending on where you are located, you can usually find good quality storage sheds for sale. Here is an example of the type of company that will sell and deliver one to you if needed: http://www.houstonshipcontainer.com/uses.html.

Now that you know how you will re-arrange your outdoor gear for the warm weather ahead, you can finally make plans for fun times in the sunshine. Some of us might enjoy the winter, but we all seem to love the summer. The sun just puts a good old smile on our faces. And just think, you’ll be even happier knowing that your storage items are organized better than ever before.

Traveling to Texas to Thaw Out

Hello all you Polar climate connoisseurs!

In today’s blog post, we are going to provide some new insights on how to properly thaw out from your polar climate. Just last month, we traveled down to Texas to get out of the cold and into the heat. During our stay, we visited the beautiful Gulf Coast and did some sightseeing in a little gem called Galveston. Galveston is a city of only about 50,000 people, but it is very close to Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States.

So how did we thaw out?

thawing out image

Well, it’s not very hard to warm up once you’re in the state of Texas. But we did have an extra special opportunity to spend some time in lounging in the back of a luxurious limo as we drank in all the breathtaking sights from the Moody Gardens to an old oil rig museum and, of course, the coolest shopping spot in the state — a little place called The Strand.

If you have the chance to rent a limo, or even a party bus if you have enough people traveling with you, we highly recommend it. It is so much better than getting a rental car because you get to spend every moment enjoying the trip instead of being your own taxi driver.

During our limo ride, we did some extra thawing by sipping on some sweet apple cider that was hot and steamy. There are tons of great little stores to visit throughout Galveston, and one of them had a great deal on apple cider so we just couldn’t resist.

So what did we learn during our Texas travel experience?

  1. Thawing out – It is easy to do if you just get out of the cold weather and into a seat that’s leather — in the back of a limo, that is.
  2. Sipping some cider – It’s the sweetest way to enjoy an apple a day.
  3. Shop the Strand – Take your family and friends shopping in Galveston, Texas to find the coolest little catch.
  4. Get away from the glaciers – Most importantly, if you want to thaw out, leave the land of the igloo and go to a place like Galveston!

We hope you’ll continue to follow our progress here at Polar Guard, where we look out for our friends in the frozen tundra.
